I was born in 1971 and grew up in the 70's and 80's. I remember when playgrounds had those super tall metal slides, there were no rails and you would either bake on the metal in the summer, or freeze on them in the winter, at least when you weren't falling off of them. I remember the mountain of tires we would climb, and swings that were on gravel and pavement that often resulted in cuts and bruises but a lot of fun. I have fond memories of when you would spend from sunrise until full dark outside with your plastic gun and your friends wandering through whatever world you and your friends had created out of make believe. I also remember a time when crime was higher than now (contrary to popular news networks) but we still as kids could walk miles home without the fear of the current day.

I am now starting into my 40's. I love baking, table top role-playing games, computers, video games, writing (a recent discovery), reading and most importantly my wife. I am a State Auditor for Washington State. I get to audit local governments ranging from County government down to cities, towns, health districts, fire districts and even small mosquito districts (yes, government agencies to control mosquito populations exist in our wet and rainy state).

I used to have several other online names, but as I got older I found myself coming back to the name Lochinvar. As a kid my father would always call me "Young Lochinvar" who was a knight heading to the Crusades from the poem by the Scottish/Irish poet Sir Walter Scott in the early 1800s. The full narrative poem is called Marmion, but excerpts can be found entitled "Young Lochinvar".

Since I am 40+ now, I somehow don't think the title "Young" works for me, so I figured I would switch it to "Old Man", since my only choice now is to become an increasingly older man.

Welcome aboard....
